A list of films produced by the Bollywood film industry in 2011. Several commercially and critically successful films were released during the year. Eight films made it to the top 30 list of highest grossing Hindi films at the Indian box office.
Bodyguard is the year's highest grosser with a total net of INR148 crore. Within the first day of its release, become the highest opening day grosser as well as the biggest grosser ever for a single day at the time of its release,[1] breaking the records earlier held by Dabangg. The film went on to break many collection records, netting INR20.66 crore on its opening day, INR85.50 crore in its extented opening weekend and INR109.47 crore in its extented first week of business.[2] This film marked the third straight INR100 crore-plus film for Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. It is Bollywood's third highest-grossing film ever, after 2009's 3 Idiots and 2012's "Ek Tha Tiger"(another salman-starrer).[3]
Ready has netted INR121,26,00,000 in its theatrical run.[4] At the time of release, it became Salman Khan's second back-to-back INR100 crore-plus film.
Ra.One netted INR114,78,00,000.[5] It set the record for a single-day collection, netting INR22.8 crore on its second day.[6] Upon release, the film became the first INR100 crore-plus film for Shah Rukh Khan, his highest-grossing film till date and Kareena Kapoor's fourth INR100 crore-plus film.
Don 2 netted INR113,03,00,000, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of all time.[7] It became Priyanka Chopra's first INR100 crore film.
Singham netted INR97.75 crore.[4] The film became Ajay Devgan's second biggest commercial success (after Golmaal 3) at the time.[8] After the release Bol Bachchan, it is the third highest grossing Ajay Devgan-starer ever.[4]
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara netted INR153 crore (US$27.69 million) worldwide, surpassing Hrithik's Dhoom 2 in the worldwide gross.
The Dirty Picture, Rockstar, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Murder 2, Double Dhamaal, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Delhi Belly also did well at the box office
